FAQ
Short and strict
Files are encrypted on your device before upload and can only be decrypted by the recipient.
Each transfer allows exactly one successful download. After download or expiry, the file is automatically destroyed.
VitalSend is designed for secure handover, not long-term storage or collaboration.
All plans include monthly transfer credits.
Transfers consume credits based on file size and optional security features.
Examples:
- Up to 1 GB: 1 credit
- Up to 10 GB: 2 credits
- Up to 100 GB: 4 credits
- Up to 1 TB: 7 credits
- Password protection: +1 credit
Additional credits can be purchased when needed.
Not with a single transfer.
Each recipient requires a separate one-time transfer with its own download event and automatic destruction after delivery or expiry.
VitalSend does not provide reusable links, shared folders, or collaborative access.
After one successful download, the file is destroyed and the link becomes useless.
If password protection is enabled, the correct password is required before download. Repeated incorrect attempts destroy the transfer.
No.
Files are encrypted before upload and stored encrypted. Only the recipient can decrypt the file contents.
VitalSend cannot access or read uploaded files.
You don't have to take our word for it: the encryption code that runs in your browser is open source at github.com/vitalsend/crypto.
We minimize stored metadata by design.
We do not store readable file contents. Transfers are automatically deleted after download or expiry.
Account, subscription, and payment records are retained where legally required.
No.
Files are permanently destroyed after delivery or expiry. There is no recovery or restore function.
Yes.
VitalSend supports transfers up to 1 TB depending on plan capacity and available credits.
Large transfers support resumable upload and download.
Transfer speed mainly depends on the sending and receiving environments.
For large files, the limiting factors are typically:
- available network bandwidth
- sender CPU and memory during encryption
- recipient CPU and memory during decryption
VitalSend prioritizes secure delivery and controlled persistence over raw throughput.
No.
