Faster uploads, same hard guarantees

We’ve been working in the least glamorous part of the system: the upload path. That work has now landed.

Uploads are significantly faster and more stable, especially for large files — in many cases up to 10× faster. Time to first byte is down, throughput is more consistent, and long uploads are far less sensitive to network interruptions. Uploads can resume after interruptions, so you can start at the office and continue later from another network.

What did not change is the contract.

Files are still encrypted in your browser before they leave your device.
They are still accessible exactly once.
They are still destroyed immediately after download or on any deviation.

At a technical level, the improvements come from:

  • parallel encryption during upload
  • encrypted chunk storage to allow safe resume after interruptions
  • adaptive defaults based on file size

No new features. No new knobs. Just less waiting.

If you’ve used VitalSend before, try a transfer again. The difference is most noticeable where it matters most: large files, real networks, no second chances.

More performance work is coming, but always behind the same rule:

When an important file must be transferred securely, speed helps.
Persistence does not.
